Bug Description

When upgrading to gnome 3.8 via ppa.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gnome-shell ubuntu-gnome-desktop

this is the error i am getting.

This is because you have pango1.0 installed from a PPA which does not provide modules for which plymouth is looking. This is not something we, the developers of Ubuntu, can help you with.

Hello, here is a workaround that fixed the problem for me

sudo rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/info/initramfs-tools.post*
sudo rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/info/initramfs-tools.pre*

sudo rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/info/bcmwl-kernel-source.post*
sudo rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/info/bcmwl-kernel-source.pre*

sudo dpkg --configure -a
