Bug Description

This is a live lubuntu usb key 12.04 made with Lili/Windows and persistent disk.
just did an apt-get update/upgrade

if repeating task, got:
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait
Construction de l'arbre des dépendances
Lecture des informations d'état... Fait
Les paquets suivants ont été conservés :
  linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic
0 mis à jour, 0 nouvellement installés, 0 à enlever et 3 non mis à jour.
1 partiellement installés ou enlevés.
Après cette opération, 0 o d'espace disque supplémentaires seront utilisés.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. This can be done via the commands:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install casper

Then performing the software update or installation that you were originally trying. If this does not resolve your bug please set its status back to New. Thanks in advance!

I just did an apt-get update/upgrade and install casper but it said that it is already the most recent one.
dpkg returns casper as 1.315.

as seen above, linux kernel package are left as is by update/upgrade.
