Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Release upgrades are supported from LTS to LTS or from release to release. By going from 14.04 to 15.10 you have skipped a couple of Ubuntu releases. Was that deliberate?

This should have been fixed by:

init-system-helpers (1.22ubuntu7) vivid; urgency=medium

  * Declare Breaks/Replaces against both upstart and upstart-bin since
    /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load briefly appeared in both packages
    (LP: #1439988).

Has this change accidentally been dropped in a subsequent merge? I don't see it there any more.

21:53 <rbasak> pitti: see bug 1458630. We deliberately moved apparmor-profile-load into init-system-helpers because it isn't necessarily upstart-specific. So I'm not sure why you say "Temporarily"? In any case the Breaks/Replaces needs to continue to be present.

This bug was fixed in the package init-system-helpers - 1.23ubuntu3

init-system-helpers (1.23ubuntu3) wily; urgency=medium

  * Put back Breaks:/Replaces for upstart/upstart-bin until
    we drop apparmor-profile-load again (#see 1432683). (LP: #1458630)
