New sound indicator in indicator applet complete doesn't work

Bug Description

After update to 17.10, the sound applet in indicator applet complete doesn't work properly. The applet from 17.04 with simple up down control has been replaced with horizontal applet with mute option and players control, but sound level cannot be set using this control (see video).

I can't reproduce this issue. Adjusting the volume in the indicator changes the volume.

I have experienced loss of sync between sound controls and sound hardware when multiple soundcards are present. (notably, when there's a bluetooth sound output) Can you please specify:

- If this happens all the time or if the problem is transient
- The output of inxi -A
