Bug Description

When I choose to switch users from the the menu item with my name in it, under unity, with GDM installed (NOT lightDM) latest 12.04 update, the screen goes dark and locks under my original account. Instead, it should prompt me to log in as the other user.
I've tried rebooting, and the problem is repeatable.

Problem doesn't exist when LightDM is default.

Thank you for your bug report, is that specific to unity or does it happen in i.e GNOME session? What login manager do you use?

Oh, right. This is a clean install except that the original login manager wouldn't even let me log in, so I switched to gdm (I think).
That wasn't easy either..
When I first login, I only have options "ubuntu" and "ubuntu 2d" , oh and recovery session and user-defined.

seems like an indicator-session,gdm issue, we recommend using lightdm though

Okay, so I reinstalled lightdm, which didn't used to even come up properly.
It does now.
Also, the problem in this bug report indeed does NOT occur under lightdm: I can switch between users.

So it only happens under gdm.

This is because the switcher doesn't support GDM. Changing bug report accordingly.

I'm using LightDM and similar things happen for me. When I choose "lock screen" and then log back in all is well. If I however choose to switch to another user and try to log myself back in Ubuntu freezes or "half freezes", the desktop becomes unusable.

This was not a problem with Beta2, but became a problem about a week ago probably for me. So I did a fresh install today with the final release and the problem was still there.

Yes ... session indicator doesn't load aftrer using gdm,kdm and mdm.
But i think mdm supports multiple sessions.. ?
Is there another way of showing user name .. like about me etc.
