Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

This is how you re-produce this bug (assume I have Evolution open on my top-right virtual desktop):

 1. I am current on my top-left virtual desktop. I get an email and my messaging menu turns blue.
 2. I see there is one email. I click that item in the messaging menu.
 3. Nothing happens and evolution is not focused.

This makes for confusing behavior and makes the messaging menu much less useful - it notifies me that it needs attention, and when I seek to react, nothing happens.

Hi Jono,

Thanks for reporting this bug! BTW, this is a bug in indicator-messaging and not in Unity.

it's a known bug and a duplicate, the behaviour is coming from gtk and compiz

to gives some details there is no specified standard on what a show() call should do:
- bring the user to the workspace which has the dialog you want to see
- bring the dialog to the workspace you are on
- do the claim for attention notification

the way it's working with compiz is the third one, each way has its issues though
