* start a session
* run indicator-messages-service under valgrind to get errors
* run several applications using the indicator applet
* close on
* run indicate-alot
* get the error

recent crashers from karmic users are probably the same issue

This bug was fixed in the package indicator-messages - 0.2.0~bzr121-0ubuntu3

indicator-messages (0.2.0~bzr121-0ubuntu3) karmic; urgency=low

  * Fix to dereference the application menu items correctly so that
    the signal handlers are dropped as well. (lp: #410251)
