Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

On Lucid, when I try to change my IM status with indicator-applet-session (The "Me" menu), it starts Empathy and logs me out on all protocols on Pidgin (after changing my Pidgin status too).

This behavior is obviously incorrect and creates a bad user experience for those who prefer Pidgin to Empathy.

Uninstalling Empathy, and all the Telepathy framework/plug-ins is the only way to restore expected behavior in Pidgin.

What should happen obviously is that indicator somehow knows which one you are using and sets your status accordingly instead of stupidly launching Empathy instead.
