Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-me

The Me menu tends to perform poorly if the user is using Pidgin. Setting status to Away and Available works well enough, however clicking the Chat Accounts button will open an Empathy setup.

It seems like a more robust "preferred IM client" option is needed, analogous to the way we handle web browsers and email clients.

Yes, without that preferred IM option, it's difficult to know which one to trigger.

Empathy is really the default IM client now. If you remove it, you shouldn't see the entry anymore.

One solution would be to define a priority in the desktop actions we're adding and have that used to know which one to display. It's more brittle and managing preferences at the .desktop level is a nasty game. In all cases, this is not something that is currently supported by the dbusmenu comamnd items we ship for Lucid.
