Bug Description

Ubuntu desktop 13.10 (64)
Once or twice a week keyboard layout gets changed to UK (or US?) layout. In Layout settings the layout are still set to DK, (The only one on the list). Adding some random layout and removing it again refreshes the setting so i again have to DK layout.
I have found no pattern in when the switch to UK layout happens.

Thank you for your bug report.

Do you mean that your actual keymap is changing to be a qwerty one instead of your configured one, what that happens? Is there any other issues showing in your session when that's the case?

Could you run "setxkmap -query" next time you get the issue and copy that to the bug?

A bunch of keys on my danish keyboard are placed different from the default UK/US keyboard. When this issue hapends and i type, instead of the æøå characters on the keyboard i get ;]' that are the ones that are on the UK/US keyboard. So i guess the keymap are changed? I have seen a couple of other having this problem in different forums.
I will run the command and report back next time i have the issue. Thank you.

It took some time before it happend again.
The command "setxkbmap -query" returned this:
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: us
options: caps:none

I tried adding and removing the first keyboard on the list and running the command again, and it returned:
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: dk,us
variant: ,
Even if it's only DK in the list.

I have exactly the same problem. The keyboardindicator was working just fine, until a while ago. After boot the keyboard layout is "US", but the keyboard-indicator shows "BE". When i change it manually to US and back to BE, the keyboard layout is BE.

This happens to me everytime after boot, so If you want me to run some commands, ask away.

I've had the same problem. But i'm using an english keyboard with portuguese language.

This bug, as it looks is the same:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/x11-xkb-utils/+bug/1247360

I've posted this answer on the other bug report. I hope it will help!
---------------------------------------------
Hello to all!

I've found the possibile problem causa by accident, when applying this patch to ubuntu 13.10:
https://launchpad.net/~timekiller/+archive/unity-systrayfix

Ubuntu 13.10 are using two different keyboard layout configurations, the ibus and the gnome keyboard, and as it looks both of the are active.
But you cannot see the ibus icon on top, as it has been disabled...
---
If you appy the patch above, you will see another keyboard icon, that leads to ibus configuration, that (in my case) were different from the gnome keyboard, as the english keyboard was before us alt-int.
<------------------------------->
MY SOLUTION

->open a terminal
->open ibus configuration using the command: ibus-setup
-> Configure your keyboard layout.

Gustavo Barreto's solution worked absolutely great!
I had the problem with Ubuntu 13.10. I thought that installing Ubuntu 14.04 would fix it, but it didn't.

Thanks Gustavo.
