indicator-datetime fails to build with default gcc (gcc-12)

Bug #1987920 reported by Jeremy Bícha
This bug affects 2 people
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
indicator-datetime (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

indicator-datetime fails to build from source in Kinetic with the default compiler, gcc/g++-12

To allow the package to build so that we can complete the evolution-data-server 3.45 transition, I switched the package to build with gcc/g++-11.

I suggest switching to the Ayatana Indicators (ayatana-indicator-datetime) which are maintained and are able to build successfully with the default compiler. See

It is released now, but we are looking into fixing build with gcc 12. And we are also looking into if we can port to ayatana this cycle.
