Bug Description

indicator-bluetooth 0.0.6+14.04.20140207-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu 14.04

When a Bluetooth device is paired, the Bluetooth icon has a padlock emblem. This makes no sense.

<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bluetooth#icon>: "If a device is paired, a lozenge Bluetooth icon between two arrowheads, with accessible label 'Bluetooth (paired)'."

Thanks, that icon is used when a device is paired. Knowing when somebody connects to e.g your laptop is useful information, do you think we could consider adding that to the spec?

Heh, that's currently an open question in the spec. I agree it's probably a good idea, but a padlock doesn't make sense as the emblem.

Why wouldn't the icon just turn blue, like the messaging icon (and - you know - BLUEtooth)? The lock is confusing.

reanjr, that's an enticing suggestion. However, if you were using a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse, the result would be that the Bluetooth icon was blue almost all the time, which wouldn't be good. (And it would make you even less likely to notice the messaging icon when it went blue.)

Anyway, I updated the specification back in December to describe what the paired icon should be. It shouldn't involve a padlock, because that's a non-sequitur. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bluetooth?action=diff&rev2=35&rev1=34>

I am having the same problem. It happened for no reason at all. The problem is that when I turn on my bluetooth speaker and the padlock appears, it doesn't connect to the speak so I can't use it???? Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem please?
