Bug Description

I am trying to use VirtualBox with Unity but it looks like the menu entries are disabled in the global menu, even thought their can be triggered by pressing the shortcut key combination.

For example full screen menu entry is disabled, but I can toggle the full screen state by pressing Host+F.

I have attached an screenshot with the disabled menu entries.

Thanks for your bug report and help to make ubuntu better.

Do you have the same result in the GNOME session, trying to add the appmenu applet? (you have to install indicator-applet-appmenu and add it to your panel).

Changed in unity:
status: New → Incomplete

Hi there, I hit the same bug and seems to be that if you switch to full screen mode (using Host+F) all menu entries will be enabled. Menu will remain active even if you revert back to no full screen mode (till next VM reboot). HTH. Regards

Virtualbox is a QT app and also the workaround in gnome-session to make these menus active is by removing the indicator-applet-appmenu from panel and re-adding it

affects: appmenu-gtk → indicator-appmenu
affects: appmenu-gtk (Ubuntu) → indicator-appmenu (Ubuntu)
