Ubuntu version: Xubuntu 14.04 LTS
indicator-
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Xubuntu 14.04
2. Install MATE 1.8 from https:/
3. Install mate-indicator-
4. Install indicator-
What expected to happen:
Working indicator-
At the same time, the network manager icon should disappear from the notification area.
What happened instead:
The indicator-
No network manager icon is displayed in mate-indicator-
The network manager icon is still displayed in the notification area.

Exactly the same behavior in Xubuntu 14.10 with MATE 1.8 installed from Ubuntu repositories.

I've compiled indicator-
If I run it manually, I get this:
$ ./indicator-
(process:16085): libindicator-
(process:16085): GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 20 was not found when attempting to remove it
Then it exits.

Installed Ubuntu MATE Remix 14.10 alpha 2, did the same steps.
The result is the same: indicator-

After installing Ubuntu MATE Alpha 2, do the following:
sudo apt-get install mate-indicator-
Then right click on a panel and select `Add to Panel...` and choose Indicator Applet or Indicator Applet complete from the menu. You will now see the sound-indicator, roving that mate-indicator-

Ok, it turned out someone disabled the packaging of the needed service files, so the GTK+2 version of indicator-
I've re-enabled it, and now indicator-
If you find any conflicts with GTK+3 version of indicator-

Indicator support is enabled by default in Ubuntu MATE 14.04 and is a post-install option for Ubuntu MATE 14.10 and 15.04. I will continue to provide in for 14.10 and 15.04 via my PPAs and documentation explaining how to enable indicators. But, for the time being, I am not going to add indicator support by default. I'll revisit indicator integration at a later date.
