3. Try typing something in the terminal or select anything from menu bar (including Gnome menu bar)

Actual behavior: Menus do not open and keystrokes are not sent to the applications.

Expected behavior: Everything should work as before.

Tested on desktop and UNR installs of Lucid with latest updates. This can also be reproduced in VM

In Lucid Beta 2 [using 0.3.6-0ubuntu2], the problem persists under VNC. Using vnc4server, the applet captures any presses of the 's' key, making it impossible to type anything that contains that letter. Super does not have to be pressed.

This same issue is true for the mail applet, which captures the 'm' key in the same fashion.

I'm connecting to Lucid using XDMCP from a Mac and am having the same problem with 's' and 'm' keypresses not reaching applications, instead being grabbed by the applets. I can confirm that I have version 0.3.6-0ubuntu2 installed.

I confirm the problem of the 'm' and 's' keys using both vncserver and tightvnc. I worked around it by removing the indicator applet.

I can also confirm the 'm' and 's' key intercepts by the indicator applets. Using Lucid beta 2:
indicator-applet 0.3.6-0ubuntu2

I can't use the 'm' or 's' key for any application. Using the Shift key works, except I get a capital S or M. Removing the indicator applets is not an option for me.

This issue annoyed me so much that I downloaded the 0.3.6 source and edited it to create a workaround.
For those affected who are using Lucid, you can work around the problem by copying my 2 executables over the ones that come installed from the package in the repos.

Download the packages from here:
http://tug.hopto.org/patchedindicator-applet

then as root, copy them to:
/usr/lib/indicator-applet

then restart/logout

it is not a "fix" but it works, and for now, that is good enough for me.

This bug is also affecting NoMachine. I connect to my Ubuntu 10.04 system via NoMachine on my MacBook Pro and whenever I type the S key, the indicator panel intercepts it and displays its menu, making it impossible to type the S key into any application or terminal.
