Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

After upgrading from karmic to lucid I suddenly didn't have a power off button anymore.

The reason is that the panel that is usually on top, is on the right hand side of my screen, causing the power off button to be hidden. In karmic the applet didn't look that good on a vertical panel, but at least the power off button was shown.

Confirmed with a fully updated lucid install.

It looks like the indicator-applet-session item on the panel consists of 2 items: 1 for chat accounts and 1 for the session.

When you set the panel orientation to left or right the the default panel size of 24 pixels is not enough to display both items on the indicator-session-applet. If you increase the size of the applet as well then you can access both the chat and session items.
At 78 pixels I can just about see the session icon and access it. But at this size the panel is not very pretty.

In reallity the power-button is displayed, but it's too far after the edge of the screen to be displayed.

I think the code is hardcoded to put elements one after the other to the right. This works on a horizontal panel, but not on a vertical one.

To test this open gnome-power-preferences, the General tab, and cycle through the radio-buttons in the "Notification area" group.

Notice that when the battery icon is displayed it is masking out the sound indicator.
The sound indicator reappears when the battery icon is not displayed.
