I can confirm that I have the same problem with the same mouse. Using Dapper 6.06.

I can confirm the bug too... This is quite annoying when using Opera (or other browsers) for web surfing. A fix posted here http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=184644 did work for Firefox, but not for Opera.

I am using a IM2.0 Explorer on Feisty 64 bit and I have the same problem.
It would be nice if the extra 2 buttons were recognized during installation and
we could use them in different applications (especially the upcoming Beryl).

Assigning to imwheel.
Are you using imwheel or expecting it to work out of the box?

Any news with a more recent version?

This is the same problem as described in bug #127514.
In bug #127514 I have described the problem in detail, therefore closing this bug as a duplicate of bug #127514. Please add further comments in that bug report.

Changed in imwheel:

It does not seem to be the same as 127514, because the bugs deal with two different mouse drivers.

However, they do have some similarity in that both are symptoms of X not properly autodetecting things. Still, I believe they are separate bugs.
