Bug Description

To start, this might be a duplicate of: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bug/29180 , but I've never seen an error message related to a missing file, so I can't be certain.

This is a fresh Dapper Flight 3 install, which was then subsequently upgraded as of Yesterday evening. At no point during the process has the network been brought up properly. In each cause I have to use ifdown eth0; ifup eth0 in order to bring it up properly.

During the install, the network was used appropriately and packages were downloaded from the net for the install.

The attached file is some output from a terminal to show the network state after boot and what I need to do in order to bring it up.

If need be, I can also attach /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog or any other files which you deem necessary to debug this problem.

I should note that this is on an Acer Ferrari 4005 Laptop, which is an AMD64 machine. (dunno if it's that specific, but it should be noted.)

https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ifupdown/+bug/28559 looks like the correct duplicate, marking as such. If the fix which is to be uploaded soon for that bug does not fixe my problems, then I'll re-open.
