Icewm complains failure to close files upon startup, had several unexplained crashes (4 minimal recovery problems, 2 fatal requiring reinstallation), not repeatable. Not even sure if it's related: The same bug, or one very similar, was reported at Debian, report #578765 in or around 2010 - 2011 My machines details. tail .xsession-errors: icewm-session: Warning: Closing file descriptor: 9 icewm-session: Warning: File still open: fd=3, target='/var/log/xrdp-sesman.log' (missing FD_CLOEXEC?) icewm-session: Warning: Closing file descriptor: 3 icewm-session: Warning: File still open: fd=4, target='socket:[9799]' (missing FD_CLOEXEC?) icewm-session: Warning: Closing file descriptor: 4 icewm-session: Warning: File still open: fd=5, target='socket:[9801]' (missing FD_CLOEXEC?) icewm-session: Warning: Closing file descriptor: 5 icewm-session: Warning: File still open: fd=6, target='socket:[9804]' (missing FD_CLOEXEC?) icewm-session: Warning: Closing file descriptor: 6 icewm-session: Warning: File still open: fd=7, target='socket:[10577]' (missing FD_CLOEXEC?) icewm-session: Warning: Closing file descriptor: 7 icewm-session: Warning: File still open: fd=9, target='/dev/urandom' (missing FD_CLOEXEC?) icewm-session: Warning: Closing file descriptor: 9 icewmtray: using /home/klp/.icewm for private configuration files IceWM: using /home/klp/.icewm for private configuration files icewmbg: using /home/klp/.icewm for private configuration files icewmbg: using /home/klp/.icewm for private configuration files System details: Description: Ubuntu 12.10 Release: 12.10 icewm 1.3.7-4 version.log: Ubuntu 3.5.0-21.32-generic 3.5.7.1 lspci-vnvn.log: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 82865G/PE/P DRAM Controller/Host-Hub Interface [8086:2570] (rev 02) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0151] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- Kernel driver in use: agpgart-intel 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2572] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0151] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- [disabled] Capabilities: [d0] Power Management version 1 Flags: PMEClk- DSI+ D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 NoSoftRst- PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- Kernel driver in use: i915 Kernel modules: intelfb, i915 00:06.0 System peripheral [0880]: Intel Corporation 82865G/PE/P Processor to I/O Memory Interface [8086:2576] (rev 02) Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Kernel modules: shpchp 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) LPC Interface Bridge [8086:24d0] (rev 02) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle+ MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR-
