some of those are desktop next install and maybe mir/unity8 session but those are not the only cases it seems

Looks to be not an ibus problem, but something in Mir problem (can't reproduce under normal X session).

@William, do you know if that's an known issue under unity8?

The reports started on march 23 but ibus hadn't change since january, could have to do with the im-config changes around that day?
