I was unable to confirm this on Kubuntu 7.04. hwdb-client ran successfully for me. I do find these lines slightly odd:

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 7.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/hwdb-kde

I assume that means you are using Ubuntu with gnome so it seems strange to have the kde version of the hwdb client but that may be intentional I don't know. Was the hardware db client already installed or did you install it?
