Bug Description

Binary package hint: hwdb-client

I just ran hardware data collection in kubuntu feisty (first release, 7.04). It seems to detect all hardware, but then stops and I get a "crash happened" window. The window didn't close though; it seemed to reach 100%; when I click next it tries to connect to the server (30 sec timeout), but it just hangs (more than 30 secs elapsed). This time no "crash happened" window. I have to close it down (but it does not seem to have crashed at all).

Thanks for your report. This problem seems to be caused by entering non-ascii text (e.g. accented characters) into the comment boxes. We're tracking it as bug 91948; if you can provide any additional information, please do so there.

It happened to me also. I've tested my keyboard is functioning (Israeli keyboard), by entering text both in Hebrew and in English.

Hi Brian,

I had this bug with Ubuntu 7.04 DVD after installing on HD.

Like Lacy, my motherboard was found to be defective so I gave up on
installing Ubuntu on that machine.
I will replace the mobo - but the bug is not expected to appear anymore :-)
Therefore, I can't supply additional information...
