HSQLDB server prevents shutdown and restart

Bug Description
Every time I try to logout, my system gets back to the login screen. After some investigation using the information provided on the bug #838792, I could find out that the bug is caused by the HSQLDB Server. Here is the output of my ck-list-sessions when the bug is about to happen:
