hp-sendfax doesn't work

Bug Description

Binary package hint: hplip

The hp-sendfax fails to work.

If I use the gui I receive an error
hp-sendfax -f18889097824 Dropbox/Visionary/AdvantaClose.pdf
"error: Fax is disabled. Python version 2.3 or greater required or fax was disabled during build."

If i use the cli I receive an error
hp-sendfax -n -f18889097824 Dropbox/Visionary/AdvantaClose.pdf

Rendering file '/home/sean/Dropbox/Visionary/AdvantaClose.pdf' (job 52)...
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/hp-sendfax", line 597, in <module>
    result = list(service.CheckForWaitingFax(device_uri, prop.username, sent_job_id))
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'CheckForWaitingFax'

Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10
hplip:

I was expecting to send a fax. Instead I received these errors.

Hello Sean,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with hplip. You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and hplip have been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 432174
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
