Bug Description
After upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10, the hibernate fails. The error that is seen on the screen is that: Not enough free swap. But I am pretty sure that it is not swap space. I have about 10GB assigned to my swap space and it is hardly ever used. Further the same configuration used to work fine with 11.04. After the upgrade this feature has gone broke.
The model of the laptop is Lenovo W510. Earlier in Ubuntu 11.04 the hibernate used to fail and checking the forums I found that it required a bios update from Lenovo. After the bios update, the hibernate worked all through without issues till the upgrade to 11.10. Please advise if any further information would help you better and I could upload any system logs if any following the procedure you may state.

Now I have another weird issue. Not able to see if a fix would come along, I thought of something on the internet. I did follow the instructions in http:// www.ubuntugeek. com/fix- for-suspend- and-hibernation -problem- for-laptops. html
and installed uswsusp. With that the computer would suspend but would never resume when I power it on again.
I then removed it.
Then I tried the instructions in website: http:// thecodecentral. com/2011/ 01/18/fix- ubuntu- 10-10-suspendhi bernate- not-working- bug. This too didnt work and I subsequently removed this script too.
Currently I have a system where hibernate also causes the system to kind of shut down. When I press hibernate, it seems to go in kind of hibernate. But when I power up, the system comes up as if being powered on after a shut down.
And now I kind of feel I am stuck.
