HexChat does not integrate with the Ubuntu messaging menu

HexChat does not integrate with the Ubuntu me-menu (package: indicator-messages?)

X-Chat however provides this integration.

Can this be integrated into the mainline Ubuntu-provided HexChat so it works out-of-the-box like X-Chat?

It could be added to the repo same as xchat-indicator. HexChat uses the same tray icon as XChat but Unity no longer supports Gtk tray icons and only a few blessed programs can still use it. XChat is one such program but if you actually use the tray icon its quite broken. It is very unlikely to come bundled with HexChat itself though.

I am *not* talking about the application having its own indicator.

I am talking about integration with the existing me-menu indicator.
The "mail letter" indicator, which is integrated by both Thunderbird and X-Chat and many other applications. I think Pidgin and Empathy too.

Ok, XChat does not do this OOTB, xchat-indicator does.

Marc, I am not sure what you did.

You added hexchat-indicator to the xchat-indicator package?
I am confused.

Also, there is an hexchat-indicator package.
However it seems the hexchat package does not recommend the hexchat-indicator package.
