2010-05-22 18:50:33 Jan Claeys description In 10.04, changing /etc/hdparm.conf has no effect. I used to tame the hard disk of my netbook in 9.10 by adding the following lines to /etc/hdparm.conf, in order to stop the constant clicking: command_line { hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda } In 10.04 this has no effect. After each boot I have to issue manually the terminal command: sudo hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda 'hdparm' doesn't come with an init script anymore, and the udev script doesn't use all the documented sections in 'hdparm.conf'. More specifically, the 'command_line' doesn't get used anymore. As a result of this change, people get into trouble after an upgrade, or when they try to use documented features. This new behaviour is not documented in the release notes, and the manpage & the comments in the default hdparm.conf file still document the old behaviour. Either this is a regression, or the new behaviour needs to be documented... ------- Original bug description: In 10.04, changing /etc/hdparm.conf has no effect.
