Bug Description

I am running Ubuntu 12.04

I am trying to learn hledger from the hledger tutorial
    http://hledger.org/step-by-step.html
But I do not get the same results as in that tutorial.
So the learning process is buggy/difficult/impossible.

I checked - is this version of hledger up to date ?
And yes, when I do «sudo apt-get install hledger --only-upgrade»
i get the statement «hledger is already the newest version.»

But this statement is a bug/erroneous/misleading/wrong!

The apt-get version is hledger v0.17, which is almost three years old.
The newest version of hledger is not 0.17 but 0.23

The tutorial begins
    Get a command prompt,
and run hledger to check the version.
It should be reasonably up to date:

So to help those of us trying to learn hledger,
please could you make v0.23 available

Many thanks
