1.8.8 and 1.8.19 work the same way.
I also picked the change from the 2.0 branch, for Eoan/Focal, but there testing shows errors to load the dh file that the frontend defines like:
    bind 10.253.194.115:443 ssl crt /etc/ssl/certs/haproxy.pem

That now fails to load, the same works in the 1.8 branches and it works (well more likely it wasn't used) prior to the fix.
