This version of Hamster doesn't work with the Hamster GNOME Shell extension, resulting in an ugly experience for GNOME Shell users. Is there something holding it back? Someone might be willing to write a patch.

The only thing holding it back is time to do it. I've done the past few uploads but don't have time atm to prepare a new one. I'd be happy to sponsor someone's work (or you can go through the normal sponsoring process: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SponsorshipProcess).

Lovely!

I made a daily PPA and a stable PPA for the time being, and I'll see about updating the packages in Ubuntu proper when it's working smoothly :)

https://launchpad.net/~dylanmccall/+archive/hamster-time-tracker-git-stable

Launchpad hasn't built the binary packages yet, but it _should_ work.

One problem I see right now is hamster-indicator is (probably) slightly incompatible with hamster-time-tracker, so that will need to be updated at the same time.

I think the way to handle this is to merge hamster-applet from Debian then have a separate hamster-time-tracker application. This is the route Debian is taking as well.

FYI, I just merged hamster-applet from Debian into Ubuntu. hamster-time-tracker should be a separate upload. Dylan, if you want hamster-time-tracker in Ubuntu, I suggest following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/NewPackages.

I think once it is in Ubuntu, we can look at updating hamster-indicator to either work with both or forking it to work with hamster-time-tracker. Perhaps it could be modified to only work with hamster-time-tracker, then hamster-time-tracker could have a versioned Recommends on hamster-indicater and hamster-applet could have a versioned Conflicts with hamster-indicator. There are a number of ways this could play our depending on what is needed.

Changed in ubuntu:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
Changed in debian:
status: Unknown → New
