Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner

nautilus-cd-burner lets me choose burning speed starting from 14.1x and higher, but my DVD-RW drive can only record at maximum 10x. As a result, the CD is burned, but an error pops up in the end, saying "Error while burning, try lower speed".

nautilus-cd-burner version is 2.18.0-0ubuntu1. The drive is recognized as "DVD DW 8X16X8X16", and is located at /dev/scd0.

Thank you for your bug. Could you run /usr/lib/nautilus-cd-burner/list_cddrives with a CD to the drive and copy that to a comment?

On my desktop hal lists only one write speed, likely an hal or linux bug

The list of speeds look fine, rather a nautilus-cd-burner bug then. Could you make a screenshot from the nautilus-cd-burner list of speeds also?

are you sure than the CD writing speed for your drive is limited to 10x? that's weird for DVD writer, they usually can do much faster CD writing, the list of DVD speeds looks correct

These screenshots make me think so. And if maximum speed is greater or equal to 14.1x, why then the error pops up, saying "Select lower speed"?

it's not clear if those screenshot display the CD or DVD recording speed, anyway the list of speeds comes from hal, that's either due to it or linux, reassigning

Well, those screenshots were taken while an empty rewriteable CD was in the drive. Also, I selected option "Burn CD", not DVD in both programs.
