[apport] hal-device-manager crashed with ImportError in <module>()

Binary package hint: hal

Just clicking on the button: System>Preferences>Hardware Information brings up a crashed application window giving me the opportunity to report the problem. The application never opens. It happens every time, the program has never worked.
