Bug Description

After a few hours' debugging and trying stuff suggested in #549727, <http://askubuntu.com/questions/26290/50-synaptics-conf-options-not-working/>, <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Input_device_configuration> and <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#In_case_Touchpad_features_like_scrolling.2C_tapping.2C_etc_do_not_work_at_all.>, it looks like the detection of the Synaptic TouchPad on the Samsung 90X3A laptop is wrong: The TouchPad device (/dev/input/event8 -> /dev/input/mouse1) is matched with InputClass "evdev pointer catchall", and not with "touchpad catchall".

Tried to modify /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf to match only the TouchPad device path, but that resulted in the following error:

(--) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: no supported touchpad found
(EE) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"
(II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"

Could it be that this hardware device is not supported by the Synaptics driver?
