Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

The latest hal version in Ubuntu FTBFS due to being unable to ship an header. The header which it tries to ship, has been removed from the linux kernel since the version 2.6.38. Hence, it shouldn't be no longer shipped. This also led to a FTBFS of the package [1].

I reviewed the attached patch and it seems sane to me, although it might be worthwhile to either have the patch detect at runtime if V4L or at compile time instead of just removing all the old code. I tried to test build this package, but due to archive skew, I wasn't able to; I'd also like someone more experienced in HAL to review this change for sanity.

I already fixed that upstream a few days ago:

and committed it to the hal debian SVN. I'll upload it soon.

This bug was fixed in the package hal - 0.5.14-5+svn1

hal (0.5.14-5+svn1) natty; urgency=low

  Upload current Debian svn head to fix FTBFS.

  * Add 00upstream_video4linux_check.patch: Do not build
    hald-probe-video4linux if v4l1 is not available. (LP: #721399)
  * Refresh 99-autoreconf.patch for above.
  * 45-fix-libusb-detection.patch: Unfuzz.
