Bug Description

Binary package hint: hotkey-setup

brightness keys misfunction.

In Dapper, I could have several level of brightness (Fn-Home and Fn-End) by pressing one or the other. Now I only have Low and High. When I press "brighter" it goes up to the top. If I press "darker" it goes down to the bottom.

Confirmed and reproducible. This is a regression from Dapper.

Running xev tells me:
1) When brightness is at maximum, hitting Fn-Home returns keycode 212 only once
2) When brightness is at minimum, hitting Fn-Home causes keycode 212 to be hit multiple times until the brightness is at maximum.

I suspect that thinkpad-keys is noticing the screen brightness going up and interpreting that as a key press.

Changed in hotkey-setup:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

hal has an entry that fixes this behaviour for Thinkpads, but I don't think the table is sufficiently populated.
