Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

This bug started up after applying patches and rebooting this morning (10 May 2006). On starting Gnome, the following error appears in a window: "Internal error/failed to initialize HAL!" Rebooting doesn't help.

Taskbar etc takes very long to load up after this. All hardware including USB and CD seems to be working fine, but opening Nautilus takes ages. Other tty's don't come up very fast either.

Seems similar to Bug #31517, which is marked as fixed.
