Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04

hal-0.5.12~rc1+git20090120-0ubuntu1

A missformed leds entry in sysfs:

# ls -l /sys/class/leds/mmc0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2009-02-04 11:03 /sys/class/leds/mmc0 -> ../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1e.0/0000:15:00.2/leds/mmc0

leads to hald crashing with a sigsegv, which has long since been fixed by an upstream hal commit:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/hal/commit/?id=336d871860710af1cb3a55234d5051f01e842e02

Please update hal.

The problem showed itself with a .29-rc3-ish kernel on a Thinkpad T500. Hald crashing leads to an unusable system as X won't get any input devices and you're left unable to do anything.
