Unfortunately it is still an issue. I have kept my installation up-to-date with regard to patches. I am running:

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
Codename: hardy

I had to disable most of the power management features while on battery and now it is a bit like Russian Roulette. I keep working until the machine performs a shutdown when gets critically low on juice which has made for a few unhappy moments.

Are you suggesting I move to Ibex?
