hal-device-manager reproducible crash

Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal-device-manager

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to System->Preferences->Hardware Information
2. Click on Help->About

After 2 seconds, an error dialog box appears: "Sorry, Hardware Information closed unexpectedly".

If you start Hardware Information from command line, you can get the following error message on the console:

ricardo@kadath:~$ hal-device-manager
<gtk.Menu object at 0x843048c (GtkMenu at 0x84dd520)>
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/hal/device-manager/DeviceManager.py", line 38, in on_about_activate
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'show'

Hi Ricardo
I couldn't reproduce the crash under Hardy Heron, could you please provide the version of the hal-device-manager and python-support you're using. also please check if you have a crash file related to this.

I can't find any crash file... Sorry...

hal-device-manager does not exist any more in hardy, it was removed upstream. gnome-device-manager is the replacement.

Then why do I have a hal-device-manager in my Hardy (upgraded from Gutsy)? Shouldn't something have removed it?
