Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

having the same trouble as, https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114595 with Asus z71vp pentium M based notebook the problem seems to have become a little worse in gusty. the lid switch does not work at all (sorta)... the notebook does suspend just fine using the fn+ key combination. The display does blank, so i would assume the switch is being polled or interrupted correctly, but something is happening when it comes to the suspending. As in previous posts they have requested some the dmesg output as well as the dmidecode.

I have exactly the same behavior on my HP nc6710b laptop... Is the Asus an Intel chipset Core2 machine by any chance?
