Bug Description
Binary package hint: hal
I am testing Ubuntu 7.10 Tribe 3.
When I logged into the GNOME, one dialogue box appeared saying fail to initialize HAL. And then I can't see any drive icon on the desktop if I plug on a removable hard drive or insert a CD.

I found this problem is fixed after I did a "sudo apt-get upgrade".
But the computer was frozen in starting hald. I don't know why.
