Bug Description
Binary package hint: hal
When the desktop was loaded, I got a notice that hal had crashed.
I tried connecting my ipod to check it out.
My ipod didn't appear on the desktop... and wasn't visible in Rhythmbox with the ipod plugin enabled as by default.
According to dmesg, my ipod was recognized succesfully as sdb1 (firmware) and sdb2 (vfat) but neither showed up in the /media folder.
Manually started hald through the command line but with no visual success. Except that the screen turned black into screen saver mode.
Afterwards, went into "System - Preferences - Removable Units" and as soon as I clicked there my ipod appeared on the desktop as a removable unit and was recognized in Rhythmbox.
This happened in Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 3
