Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

hald uses up to 20% of my cpu when I plugin the usb-receiver of my microsoft (sorry... ;-) wireless optical desktop 3.0. It is a receiver for both a mouse and a keyboard. It works ok in Windows.

This occurs in my Feisty installation, but also on the Feisty live-cd.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 beta?

It seems to work ok now in 8.10 RC. Great!

Wouter (woutervanwijk-netscape) wrote :

It actually is not fixed. I see the behaviour in Jaunty Beta again. dbus-daemon also eats cpu-time. 3% or so. Both the mouse and the keyboard do not work.

The issue is still there.

However, it seems to exist a solution but it's not yet implemented. See this link for the patch: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3792455&postcount=6

Thanks! But I am not in the habit of patching my system myself... Too bad it's not implemented yet.
