printer HP1020 needs windows reset.

hal-cups-utils (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

the latest ubuntu (with the Heron image) finally recognises the HP1020 (thank you team ubuntu!). sometimes the printer will not print a document, just sits there. then I have to go into windows (dual boot system), then print any sort of document from XP on the HP (always works fine), reboot again into ubuntu, and then the HP works fine again in ubuntu.

also, not really related to the above, but if the paper runs out while printing in ubuntu, the warnings come on but i cannot figure out how to continue the job. loading the paper doesn't help. turning off and on the printer does not help, things just freeze up. In Windows you can load up more paper and click the 'continue' (or whatever) button.

This printer needs to be configured using hp-setup to function correctly.
The automatic printer detection and configuration (plug 'n print) does not install the firmware that is required for this printer to work.

Simply running:

sudo hp-setup

From a terminal should resolve this problem.

This is a bug in the plug 'n print detection which should not automatically set up printers that require additional firmware to be loaded, reassigning.

Changed in cups:
status: New → Confirmed

thanks
my system always logs me in as adminstrator, so when I ask for the terminal
and get the $ prompt, exactly what do I type in?
