printer "enabled" checkbox

Bug Description

Ubuntu 7.10 printer HP-3500

when I try to print, I hear noise from printer that it ready to get job, but it don't get it and stops. I go to printer configuration in Ubuntu and find unchecked cheskbox "enabled" ... I check it again, printer prints :

PCX XL error
      Subsystem :KERNEL
      Error: IllegalDataValue
      Operator: VendorUnique
      Position: 14

then it works good for 20 - 30 minutes

then I sent something to it and get the same story

problem is that checkbox "enabled" become unchecked

Seems that hal-cups-utils assumes that the printer was turned off when the HPLIP backend claims the USB port.
