1/ yes, just reproduced it.
w/ to recreate - try signing in to facebook via Gwibber - it apparently
goes all ok until you look at the facebook account on Gwibber where it
is back at "Authorise [Authorise with Facebook].

Facebook shows an acces from Gwibber but Gwibber does not finish
authorisation or [consequently] show any facebook entries.

Thanks for looking into this.

Additional info:

Gwibber is now showing facebook entries ok. The only change made was to *again* authorise the account [in exactly the same way and with exactlly same details as previous attempts]. This was the fifth authorise attempt since first trying some time ago.

Gwibber, this time, showed facebook entries. On starting Gwibber again today - it is still showing new updates.
All good news, it is behaving correctly - I wonder if it was a facebook bug rather than a Gwibber bug?

My only worry is that on inspecting the accounts in Gwibber, it still shows the option to "authorise" even though the account has obviously now been authorised.

Either way, if nobody else adds to this bug - feel free to change the status of the bug appropriately.

Now... if only the option to view entries from one account at a time instead of an enforced *all* view could be returned to Gwibber - you know just like previous Gwibber versions used to let users do :D

I have found that even though it shows that it didn't authenticate, it actually did. Open Gwibber to see if it shows Facebook updates, or update your status in Gwibber and see if it appears in Facebook.

This log looks useless. Seems to be the only relevant log. Nothing was logged while I ran through these steps to reproduce the bug.

Nothing else logged when I start it from CLI.

wistle (charl-wentzel) wrote : Re: [Bug 962535] Re: Gwibber in Ubuntu 12.04 will not complete facebook authorisation

Gwibber is currently showing messages from Facebook, so it is working.
So I went to the Accounts page and its still showing an "Authorize"
button for my Facebook account, unlike my Twitter account which
indicates that it has been authorised.

To verify that this issue still exists, I clicked the "Authorize" button
and followed the sequence of logging into Facebook, identifying my
device, etc. But this time (for the first time) I got a blank window
with only the message "success" written in it. When I clicked on the
Facebook account again it showed the "Authorize" button again. So it
seems the problem still exists, but its not a failure to log in, but
rather a failure to indicate success.

I had a look at my /home/$USER/.cache/gwibber/gwibber.log file, but
found nothing at all that indicated I tried to log in or authorise
again. So there is not much there to explain what happens.

Charl
PS: I'm currently still using Precise.

I was using 12.10 few days ago, and facebook worked fine with Gwibber in 12.10.
But due to some issue i had to revert back to 12.10 with a clean install and since then gwibber doesn't work, i have done everything what i found on the internet and what are mentioned in the comments above.

Why this issue is not fixed yet?

To install this on Ubuntu 12.04 enable the "Pre-releace updates (precise-proposed)" in Software Sources and install gwibber-service-facebook

~$ sudo apt-get install gwibber-service-facebook

Then remove the "Pre-releace updates (precise-proposed)" from Software Sources so you don't update and install all the newest untested versions of everything. ;-)

P.S. I've tested this and posts I make from Gwibber now show up in facebook, however there must be something else wrong with my Gwibber too because I don't see any details of anything in the gwibber window, it's just a gray window (see attached pic) :-(

Cause it is preinstalled in Ubuntu LTS, but this bug is unresolved from year(s).

---------

At the moment i can post on Facebook, but i can't see the News Feeds in Gwibber.
In the accounts management Gwibber asks me to "authorize" Gwibber on Facebook, even if i've done it dozen of times.

Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS

Yup.... still an issue here. As stated before, I can post to facebook without issue but cannot see any of the feeds back to my gwibber.
