Can not send messages. No field to type.

The known problem with Facebook was solved by modifying _init_.py file as discussed elsewhere.
However, there is no field to type messages. I did see it before, in earler versions of ubuntu, maybe 11.10 or 12.04. But in current version it completely absents. Is it an idea?
