Thanks for reporting, but I'm afraid this is more of a problem with your installation or distribution (as indicated by the klauncher error) and not with Gwenview specifically. This feature is working fine with a current KDE Frameworks 5 + Gwenview. You could try updating your Frameworks and Gwenview version (e.g. by using KDE Neon) or asking in the Ubuntu forums for help with debugging.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-life on April 29, 2021.

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue using a maintained version of Ubuntu then please let us know otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.
