Bug Description

After update Ubuntu from 13.10 to 14.04, I cannot run GWave. I get a segment fault.
This problem persists if I make an apt-get purge gwave, apt-get autoclean and apt-get install gspiceui gwave.

***:~$ gwave
Violación de segmento (in english, segment fault)

Note that I tried to test it trough gspiceui, I can run simulations with gnucap but I cannot see the data with gwave.

Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I also get a segmentation error when attempting to start gwave on 14.04. It also happens on Ubuntu Utopic. I suspect this might be a duplicate of bug 1302586.

I had problems with the same bug while trying to use gspiceui. My workaround was to download Gaw from -

- build from source, install and use. Works.

gaw3-20150228.tar.gz ;; build from source, installs ok

gwave found on sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/projects/gwave/files/gwave/
does not compile
missing guile/gh.h header file , something about moving to libguile.h after googling.

its a real mess

heres the shortened output after 2nd guile compile

This bug was fixed in the package gwave - 20090213-6.1

---------------
gwave (20090213-6.1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Non-maintainer upload
  * Added make_stack.diff patch to remove use of
scm_the_last_stack_fluid_var that was deprecated from guile in
    commit ec16eb7847895247be3438c25d2d27ce2e137b83 dated 19 Jun 2010.
  * Added std_menus.diff patch to replace gtk-menu-append and
    gtk-menu-bar-append with gtk-menu-shell-append, preventing
the use of the append generic that is missing in guile-gnome.

Please note this problem still affects some of us.
I am running the current Ubuntu LTS, and gwave still does not work for me.
Is there something I am supposed to do besides apt-get update/upgrade?

While the issue is fixed in 20090213-6.1, this is only available in Ubuntu 17.04 and later. If you want a fix for older versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.
