Font file names should be in lower case

Font file names should be in lower case. In ttf-georgewilliams version 1.0-3, the following two files should be renamed to lower case and files in which they referred to should also comply to this change.

/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-georgewilliams/CUPOU___.TTF
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-georgewilliams/CUPOULI_.TTF

/etc/defoma/hints/ttf-georgewilliams.hints

Pleaes report this also upstream and in the Debian issues tracker for this package.

Can you please state why this is a bug and where it is written that filenames have to be lowercase? Also, what breaks when the filenames are not lowercase?

the usual end user application do not have a problem with this. However developer and power users expect these files names to be in lower case, e.g. for locating them with find and other tools. Also putting this file name in lower case would have Ubuntu conform more with Linux Standard Base (LSB).

On my developer machine with more than 2000 Ubuntu packages installed, inside /usr/share there is not a single file that has upper case in its file name extention.

Fixing this will make the file easier to find by conforming to general exceptions on case conventions. I agree that these expectations might not be perfect, but with this minor change, at least this file will not be forgotten in operations done by power users or developers.

Well, we won't fork the package from debian because of this. So, if you want to get this changed, please report directly to upstream and deal with them directly.

Power users and developers will be able to find the files if they need them. Therefor I would say "Won't fix".
